Kraft Heinz will reduce the use of virgin plastic globally by 20% by 2030 which is estimated to reduce the use of approximately 100 million pounds of virgin plastic.
Chief sustainability and corporate affairs officer Rashida La Lande said Kraft Heinz is “investing in innovative technologies and partnerships that are critical to helping us redesign packaging, eliminate unnecessary plastic, increase our use of recycled content, and influence the adoption of reuse models.”
“This is one more way we’re renovating our product portfolio to not only offer more sustainable options, but to deliver on our consumer expectations,” she added.

The goal builds on the existing investments the food manufacturer has made across its portfolio to reduce plastic use and meet its broader packaging goals, including aiming to make 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025, and aiming to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, while halving emissions by 2030.
To reach these targets, Kraft Heinz is building on the existing work with the US, Canada, and UK Plastic Pacts to increase the use of recycled content in its packaging
Kraft Heinz rolled out a 100% recyclable cap for its ketchup squeezy bottles, meaning the whole bottle – including the cap – can now easily be recycled in regular kerbside collections.
Kraft Heinz Northern Europe president Jojo de Noronha said the food manufacturer is “delighted to see our innovative, more sustainable caps on ketchup bottles across the UK”.
“Although a small change, this makes it easy for the millions of Heinz lovers across the country to recycle their whole squeezy bottle at once – a small action with big potential for impact.”
