The British Basketball League is ramping up its green credentials by inking a deal with Biffa, the sustainable waste management company.
Biffa has become the Official Sustainability Partner of the league over the next three years, in a deal which The British Basketball League has described as a “game changer”.
The partnership will see clubs and venues across the men’s and women’s leagues receiving support from Biffa in developing their sustainability strategies as they work together to reduce waste and promote effective reuse and recycling in their communities.
As part of the tie-up, Biffa will spearhead new community initiatives to inspire other businesses and the next generation to be more green and learn how to be more sustainable and reduce waste.
Biffa experts will be on hand throughout the partnership to provide support and guidance to the league, clubs and partners.

The move follows the league upping its green credentials by centralising its broadcast operations and producing content in-house to save on unnecessary travel.
“This partnership signifies more than just a collaboration; it’s a testament to our collective commitment to making a positive impact on the environment,” said British Basketball League CEO Aaron Radin.
Biffa COO Maxine Mayhew added: “Tackling climate change is for everyone, and, by working with the League and clubs, we can educate and inspire young people through a sport they love to play their part in protecting the environment.”
Last month, it was revealed Biffa was planning to take legal action against the Scottish government over the country’s failed deposit return scheme (DRS).
