Nestlé’s coffee brand Nescafé has launched its first fully recyclable instant coffee refill pouch.
Made of paper, the pack has been designed for the Nescafé Gold Blend and Original brands, and can be easily recycled through kerbside collection.
It builds upon the coffee brand’s current offering of refill pouches which were only recyclable instore, demonstrating the brand’s ongoing commitment to sustainable packaging and to Nestlé’s ultimate goal of reducing virgin plastic use by a third by 2025.
Marketing director Ingrid Hayes said: “We are thrilled to introduce Nescafé’s first paper refill pack representing a positive step towards our sustainability goals.

“Nescafé is dedicated to driving positive change and offering more sustainable choices for our fans while giving them the same great coffee that they love.”
As well as reducing packaging material, the recyclable pouch aims to improve efficiency. It weighs 150g, which means it is 97% lighter than the brand’s 200g glass coffee jar, and is resealable to preserve freshness.
The pouch can be recycled at more than 5,000 stores in the UK and through kerbside collection in Ireland.
In March this year, Nestlé said it had reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2023 by 13.5%, while continuing to grow its business over the same period.
