EV charging facilities will be available at Alton Towers, as the UK’s largest theme park ups its green credentials.
The charging facilities come courtesy of a deal between RAW Charging and Merlin Entertainments, Alton Towers’ operator.
RAW Charging, one of the largest UK providers of electric vehicle chargers, is installing 30 EV charging bays across Alton Towers.
The installation marks RAW’s third installation for Merlin Entertainments, following installations at other Merlin sites, including 38 EV charging bays at Legoland and Windsor Resort and 12 bays at Chessington World of Adventures Resort.
Alton Towers, the UK’s largest theme park, welcomes over two million visitors each year, with the majority arriving via car.
Charging bays have been installed at four separate sites across the Alton Towers estate.

The chargers are located at areas dedicated to day guests, overnight hotel guests and guests of Splash Landings. This is the first phase of EV charging installations, with future expansion plans in the pipeline, Merlin Entertainments said.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Coca-Cola had teamed up with Merlin Entertainments to offer a number of exclusive experiences at some of the UK’s best-known family attractions as part of a wider recycling initiative.
RAW Charging CEO Jason Simpson said: “With these installations, both day visitors and hotel guests at Alton Towers can fully immerse themselves in the park’s exhilarating rides and attractions, knowing their vehicle will be ready for the journey home.
“We’re eager to expand our offerings at other Merlin Entertainments destinations nationwide.”
