Harrods says it had reached a sustainability “milestone” after revealing its debut Environmental, Social and Governace (ESG) report and highlighting its key eco achievements in 2023.
Managing director Michael Ward said: “While Harrods has witnessed unprecedented change over its course, we are facing an even more rapidly changing future.
“We recognise that it is only by putting the sustainability of our business, our supply chain and the planet at the forefront of our business, that we can assure the continuing high standards that we have always stood for and that our customers expected.”

Like other retailers, Harrods is looking to cut carbon emissions and focus on renewable energy.
It said the report marked a “milestone in its sustainability journey” and said it had made “positive strides” on its eco initiatives.
It pointed to several highlights over the year, as it looks to become a more environmentally conscious business.
These include a 2.4% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 consumption against 2022 baseline year; the installation of solar panels at Thames Valley Distribution Centre, providing 41% of the site’s annual power requirement; launching a data capture campaign to better understand the demographic of its colleagues and candidates applying for roles with Harrods and the launch of Harrod’s beauty recycling scheme across all H Beauty stores.
