Drinks business Global Brands has shared its emissions reduction strategy, which it said will lead it to be net zero by 2050.
The business, which is behind drinks brands including VK, Hooch, Franklin and Sons, Shake Baby Shake and more, has said its strategy will result in a 40% reduction in emission per million pounds worth of turnover by 2030, with the remainder offset.
In addition, the brand has said the strategy will lead to a 92% reduction in emissions per million pounds of turnover by 2050.
Offset strategies used by the business will be managed by Verified Carbon Standard.
Further emissions reduction strategies include introducing HVO lorries across its entire lorry fleet by 2030, with a further focus on using solar panels on the roof of the company’s 181,000 square foot warehouse.
Across the businesses portfolio 100% of cans, plastic and glass bottles are recyclable with 90% using 100% recyclable paper labels.

“At Global Brands it’s our mission to continue creating and delivering delicious liquids and remarkable brands, enjoyed the world over,” said Global Brands head of marketing projects Zehra Gezer.
“Many of our products such as Hooch and VK, are easy-drinking beverages for partying and fun, and these shouldn’t come with an environmental impact. Likewise, sourcing and infusing the most remarkable ingredients from across the globe into every Franklin & Sons product, shouldn’t be at the expense of increased emissions.”
She continued: “Across Global Brands, we do recognise that we operate in a significantly single-use industry, with many products in our category prioritising convenience over sustainability. But having a good time and enjoying remarkable drinks shouldn’t be at the expense of the environment.”
