Parkdean Resorts doubles down on sustainability with two fresh partnerships

UK holiday park operator Parkdean resorts has announced two new environmentally-focused  partnerships, as the firm aims to reduce waste and take new recycling measures.

The business will work with mattress manufacturer Wow Sleep to introduce waterproof mattresses made from Sequal Yarn – a type of yarn made entirely from ocean plastic.

Each mattress is removable, allowing them to be easily washed or replaced by staff, helping to significantly reduce the amount of mattresses needed to be disposed of.

In addition, Parkdean Resorts has secured a new contract with Ecolabs to help improve its cleaning range, with new products including sanitisers washing up liquid, carpet cleaners and air freshners being introduced across all  of the businesses 66 parks over the next few months.

The products will also be delivered in concentrated form, meaning that less transportation is required, helping to reduce the amount of carbon emissions across the business.

It comes as sustainability has become increasingly important for success within the sector – between 2019 and 2022, partly as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of travellers considering sustainability when choosing a hotel has grown to almost half.

“We’re passionate about integrating environmental-friendly processes into every aspect of our business, and as we continue making strides in putting sustainability at the heart of the Great British Holiday, we are delighted to have found and be partnering with two incredibly impressive and innovative suppliers,” said Parkdean Resorts sustainability and procurement director Jane Bates.

“Investing in SEAQUAL yarn and Ecolab cleaning products allows us to reduce waste at our parks while also supporting an initiative we care deeply about: keeping Britain’s beaches clean and safe”.
